Who We Are

Meet Doug Reith

Nearly 50 years ago, Doug picked up a survey rod and never put it down.

Since 1977, Doug has been measuring, mapping, and monumenting his way across New York State — and beyond. What started as a young instrumentman in Syracuse evolved into decades of field work, project leadership, and eventually founding CNY Land Surveying in 1991, where he's been the licensed professional behind every stamped map and legal description ever since.

With a career spanning Texas to Central New York, Doug has worked every role the industry has to offer — instrumentman, party chief, field manager, office manager, and owner. That ground-up experience means he doesn't just understand surveying from the top down. He's done the digging. Literally.

Today, Doug brings that same hands-on precision to every project, managing boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, subdivision planning, FEMA elevation certificates, and construction layout using industry-leading tools including Carlson, Topcon, Trimble, and GNSS systems. He works closely with engineers, municipal agencies, attorneys, and clients — and personally stamps every map that leaves the office.

Licensed as a New York State Professional Land Surveyor since 1991 (#049904), Doug has also been an active member of both the NYS and CNY Associations of Professional Land Surveyors since 1986 — serving as CNY chapter President for eight years.

When Doug draws the line, it's in the right place. Every time.

Built on Experience. Backed by a Great Team.

Surveying is not a solo sport. It takes sharp eyes in the field, steady hands on the equipment, and a team that communicates well — whether they're standing in a swamp at 7am or untangling a deed from 1887.

A man with gray hair in a blue shirt looking down, working on a paper at a workbench.
A man in an orange safety vest is working on a sewer cover on a sidewalk, using a drain cleaning machine. There is a small screwdriver on the ground nearby, and construction tools are visible, including a shovel with a red handle and a yellow safety box. The scene is outdoors, next to a brick building with small bushes and a street in the background.
